I recently got the chance to Review The Dipe n' Go, and I have to admit I was a little more than excited. I am on the go fairly often, and while I would much rather change my 4.5 month old in the car than an icky bathroom, it was sometimes a challenge. The front bench seat slightly slants back and I could never get anything that would keep her from rolling in the crevice. Diaper bag size changing pads always seemed so small.
In comes the Dipe n' Go! It is wide and slightly padded. Just enough for the baby to be comfortable yet its not too bulky to carry. It also keeps enough structure so that it is not folding and creasing while you try and control that wiggly worm during an on the go diaper change. Now I adapted this to work in the front seat of my extended cab truck, although its advertised towards SUV, van or hatch-back style vehicle owning parents. It works great as a portable changing pad and it is my go to to use everywhere now. Even when I do have to use that icky bathroom changer. Did I mention its wipeable?! So EASY to keep clean!
To make the review well rounded, I took the opportunity with a friends SUV to test out the 'In-Vehicle changing station' perk. It was very convenient I have to say (and is making me want an SUV even more!), as the height of the vehicle was nice for my average height frame. I just attached the 'stay' part of the velcro inside the cargo space wall, and it was very easy to remove the pad and attach one handed while holding the baby.
As stated above, the pad is wide, and long enough to keep baby's legs and tush on the pad even when they are a bit older. The pockets for a diaper, wipes case and other diapering needs are generous, and you could easily keep 4-5 disposable dipers (depending on size) and a wipes case stored. I am a cloth diapering Mom, so for me I could keep 2 cloth diapers stored and a wipes case. Which sure does free up some space in the diaper bag! The colors are attractive - green, pink, blue and brown dots with brown trim. Perfect for girl or boy (or surprise)!
The only complaint I have, is also a praise. That the changing pad is wide. It only really becomes a problem if you grab it to 'Go', and youve got a diaper bag on the small side. You can fold it a bit, minding the diapers etc. you have inside, to make it fit. But its also a plus, because if baby squirms, chances are she will stay on the pad. Unlike those skinny diaper bag changing pads, where if the baby rolls on their side they are no longer on your clean and sanitary Dipe n' Go (and now on that Icky bathroom changer).
Rating this item with the 'Star System' I would give it 4.5 out of 5 stars. But that is only because I cant actually use this in an SUV or Van at the moment to utilize its 'made for' purpose. I love using it otherwise and it is my go to changing pad and is oh-so-convenient. It will definitely be one of the gifts I give at the Baby Showers I will be attending this year!
